Car Dog Guards From Travall.co.uk
If you are planning a trip with your pet then you need to make sure you have the right equipment to make their journey more comfortable
. Taking your dog on a trip with you can save having to organise a kennels or dog sitting service. However you will have to plan properly in order to ensure the trip is enjoyable for both and your dog. If you are thinking of taking your dog on a long trip get them used to being in the car by taking them with you on short drives. Some dogs can get very anxious in cars so make sure they have a comfortable place to rest and provide them with a few chew toys to keep them occupied until they settle down.
Travelling Conditions
If you are travelling by car then you need to make sure your dog has somewhere comfortable to lie down and space to turn around. A good dog blanket and soft cushion bed will provide comfort and will also protect your car seats and boot from wear and tear. A car dog guard is also a good idea to help keep your pet safely contained whilst you are driving along. Make sure your pet is warm enough on cold days and cool enough on hot days. You can buy heated and cooled dog beds which are a good idea if you are going to be travelling in extreme conditions to make sure your pet is comfortable during long journeys.
Breaks
It is important to take constant breaks when you are travelling with dogs so that they can relieve themselves and work off some of their excess energy. Being cooped up in a car for hours on end can make your dog very restless and this can be uncomfortable for them and distracting when you are trying to drive. When you are planning your trip make sure you research some stopping points along the way. These should offer you a quiet place to pull off the road and take your dog for a quick walk. This will also be beneficial for you as well and give you a chance to stretch your legs and rest for a few moments before continuing.
Security
If you need to leave your dog in the car for a short while whilst you refuel or get some food make sure you leave the windows down a little and park in the shade. If it is very sunny and warm don't leave them in the car for more than 15 minutes as parked vehicles can get unbearably hot very quickly. Your dog should wear a collar at all times which features the full owner details. This is very important on a long trip just in case anything should happen and you were to be separated. A microchip is also a good idea for additional security.
