Get to know your car: As soon as you take the possession of the car, establish a regular routine check. Pick a day of the week and allocate some time to check all the parts of the car and a few other essential features. Read the owners manual scrupulously to get familiarize with all the features and systems on your car.

Change the oil of the car: You must change the engine oil every 15,000 km or so, or as per the instruction given in the owners manual. Make sure that you use branded oil for your car and try to stick to one particular brand. If you replace the engine oil on your own, make it a point that you use dipstick to know the level of the oil. Once the tank is full, close the tank with oil filler cap.

Use transmission fluid: Using transmission fluid is very important to ensure good maintenance of your car. Use the transmission fluid of a renowned brand and stick to it meticulously. Set the transmission at P level and start the engine to diagnose the condition of the engine as well as the fluid. If you find that the fluid is black in color, make sure that you replace it immediately.

Check the tires: Make sure that the tires of your car are properly inflated as per the manufacturers guide and specific pressure. Replace the tires as soon as they start showing up wears and tears.
