Much of the recent motoring news has been about which brands have done well over the past month the final month of the Scrappage Scheme
. Superminis were the most favoured car-type with the dynamic Ford Fiesta producing some great sales once again. Following closely in second place was the ever-reliable Focus and then the Astra and Corsa followed closely behind.
However, little attention has been paid to those brands whose sales are actually falling in the current climate. An online motoring news portal recently revealed such a list and although a lot of the stats are to be expected there are some brands which are not doing as well as we may all think.
Topping the list, with sales down by an immense 90% were both Corvette and Daihatsu Hummer came a close third with a decline in sales of 87.5%. A brand which has managed to see sales drop unexpectedly is Saab they came fifth in the list and saw their vehicle sales drop by a colossal 52%.
It looks as though months of uncertainty surrounding the future of the marquee has made an impact with some negative sales for the Swedish brand.
Other notable entrants include Chrysler whose sales dropped by 35% in March and Suzuki who saw a decline of 6%.
Now that the Summer is moving in some of these brands may see sales begin to rise again and Saab will hope that their 9-3 convertible produces some good sales although many will be looking out for a bargain on a used Saab!
