Cardiff Marines Experience of Getting Fit For The Forces
I hoped my Cardiff BMF experience would help me with this following experience.
From then we did the standard warm up and then got taken to the low ropes at the start for of the bottom field assault course. This was to introduce us to the techniques required for the higher ropes on the course. We did a walk through of the assault course, with a PTI demonstrating all of the obstacles. We then went to the beginning and set off in pairs. It was a great experience; I managed to complete the whole course without falling off any of the obstacles which wasn't the same for everyone. We completed the course and had a cool down. We thought that was it, but it wasn't the PTI reminded us that we owed him a punishment from the previous day, so it was back down in the mud for another 20m crawl to the PTI. It was hard going. Our kit was already soaking wet and covered in mud from the assault course. We all completed it some easier then others and then it was back to the accommodation block. We had to strip off outside turning our kit inside out to ensure we didn't drop any mud on our way through the block. It was a quick clean of boots, then shower and finally a final clean of the accommodation block. Once the block had been cleared about 10 of us got called away for and of course interviews. We thought this was standard so were in high spirits, but confused.
