Cardiff & Bristol Fashion Week. Who Needs Milan?

The centre of Bristol offers over five hundred stores as well as two covered shopping centres

, Cabot Circus and the Mall at Cribbs Causeway. Within these you can find all of your high street favourites, as well as many independent shops and boutiques.

The city of Bristol takes its fashion seriously. It recently hosted Bristol Fashion Week, the twice yearly event that provides a glimpse of current catwalk trends. The celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton and TV stylist Mark Heyes were on hand to provide their favourite tips, as well as some peeks into the world of celebrity gossip.

Bristol also takes its art seriously. Keep an eye out for events at the RWA Gallery, which is currently hosting its Autumn Exhibition. Do make sure that you take your handbag or wallet with you when you visit, as there is the chance to snap up some of the artwork on show.

If you are planning a break in Bristol, then the Future Inn hotel in Bristol is perfectly located for easy shopping. Situated at Cabot Circus, the Future Inn offers many advantages, including free onsite parking. This means that you can forget about having to find a parking space, instead you can concentrate on your shopping.

Cardiff has recently been named the sixth best shopping destination in the whole of the UK. With its collection of historic arcades containing unique shops and designer brands, there are also covered shopping centres and markets. You can also find a selection of vintage stores in the centre of Cardiff, perfect for hunting out antique and retro bargains. St David's shopping centre is home to a number of designer favourites including its newest Vivienne Westwood store, as well as many of the UK's major retailers, including the largest John Lewis store outside of London.

If you are someone who loves learning more about fashion, then make time to visit the Cardiff Design Festival. This is an annual event that celebrates design in Wales, on until Sunday 14th October 2012. Events within the festival include Fusion: Digital Textile Design Exhibition and Weston: Container of Curiosities, which will be showing a selection of the inspiration that Richard Weston uses when designing his 'must-have' scarves and accessories. There are many other exhibitions, talks, screenings and practical sessions available at the festival, which is taking place in a number of venues across Cardiff.
