- Snake Skin: These are a little more popular than Ostrich (think Crocodile Dundee!). First, like with the Ostrich boots, you should consider removing debris from the shoe before you actually do anything to it. No sense in conditioning Cowboy Boots that are dirty because essentially all you are doing is locking in the dirt. Kind of defeats the purpose folks! For real snake skin boots, you can also wipe with the grain using a damp cloth. After you remove the dirt and debris, you can then apply a thin coat of reptile conditioner to the boots using a clean soft cloth making sure that it applied in the direction the scales lay.

Cowhide and Buffalo Skin: These, in my opinion, are two of the most commonly used skins. They aren't really luxurious per se, but they are strong as could be, they look and feel good on the boot, and they are more affordable than something like snake, crocodile or gator skin cowboy boots. Generally, the same cleaning methods go for the skins above, but you are going to specifically use a leather conditioner, not a snake conditioner or anything like that. Remove excess dirt and dust with a brush or rag, clean with the leather conditioner, apply some natural shoe cream, then continue to brush the cowboy boots until a luster is obtained.
