Caring For Your Eyes Ensuring A Great Feeling And Look
Our eyes reflect our emotions and very often it is the eyes that indicate the overall health of a person
. A cheerful or tired looking face is very much a function of the health of the eyes. If your eyes are in good shape and healthy, it will show on your face and you would look your best. On the other hand, though you may feel energetic, due to tired eyes, you will come across as haggard and will have people questioning you about your general health.
So what can we do to ensure best eye care for ourselves? Let us look at some tips:
a) To start with, get an adequate amount of sleep every night. Modern pressures of living have compromised and eaten into the quality sleeping time of most people. Excessive television watching or surfing on the internet until late into the night is having a very negative impact on most people and they are not able to break this deadly cycle of sleeping late, getting up early and slowly building up a sleep deficit. Moreover, some people are also busy doing night shift duties and that is yet another reason they cannot get proper sleep rhythms. The effects are all too obvious and they appear very tired and without any zest for life. Inadequate sleep besides leading to fatigue causes dark circles under the eyes, redness and puffiness around the eye area.
b) Do ensure you provide valuable rest and relaxation to the eyes during some part of the day for about ten minutes by just shutting them and placing a cool cucumber or cotton ball that has been dampened with an astringent. This action gives them a soothing effect and they will appear invigorated and fresh. However, take care to do this indoors and not in the sun as that can lead to swollen eyelids.
c) Those having to undertake frequent flights and train journeys for work must take the opportunity to relax the eyes by catching up on sleep or just shutting them. Do not strain the eyes by trying to read in a moving train or by catching up on movies in the plane. It is not worth the effort.
c) Regular eye care checks are necessary to find out if your eyes are normal. If they are not, you often end up squinting or frowning or even staring hard in an effort to see better and that can over time lead to the eyes becoming very tired. Such habits will also impact the eyesight negatively.
d) Use makeup sparingly and any eye makeup in particular needs to be done with high quality brands only. Do not overuse cosmetic eye drops for temporary relief and freshness. A nice gentle eyebath with cool water is the best remedy for tired eyes and for eyes that have been irritated due to dust.
e) Reading in poor light and long hours at the computer must be avoided. If your work demands use of the computer, make sure you rest your eyes every hour.
