Regular cleaning of your carpet for the removal of stains
, dirt, sand, allergens, and mites is essential for the appearance of your carpets and also for the health of your family. There are currently five accepted cleaning methodologies for professional carpet cleaners..
Steam cleaning
Hot water extraction requires the initial application of a detergent cleaning solution. The cleaning solution must stand for an appropriate amount of time, then a pressurized cleaning tool is run over the surface of the carpet multiple times to ensure the removal of all residue and particulates from the carpet. The water is then vacuum extracted until the carpet is only slightly damp to prevent soil or residues deep in the padding or the carpet fibers from coming to the surface of the carpet.
Dry cleaning
Very low moisture systems normally use specialized machines. Dry cleaning methods use an absorbent, biodegradable cleaning compound in powder or flake form to be evenly spread over the carpet. The powder is then scrubbed or brushed in. Finally the powder is vacuumed off leaving the carpet clean and dry.
Encapsulation
Encapsulation methodologies use polymer based detergents to encapsulate dirt into dry particles which can then be vacuumed up easily. This method also leaves your carpet immediately clean and dry.
Bonnet
Club soda mixed with a cleaning solution is misted onto the carpet. Next a round buffer or bonnet scrubs the mixture into the carpet. The bonnet method is not a dry method and requires a significant drying time much like steam cleaning.
Shampoo
Wet shampoo cleaning with rotary brush equipped machines was the most popular carpet cleaning method up until the 1970s. Shampoo can leave behind foamy or sticky residues that attract dirt.
