Carrier Connex Inc. facility uses the, energy-saving Deep Lake Water Cooling system to cool the data center. Deep Lake Water Cooling (DLWC) is the world's largest lake-source cooling system. And it's the ultimate in renewable, clean, green energy.

Three intake pipes draw water (4 degrees Celsius) from 5 kilometres off the shore of Lake Ontario at a depth of 83 metres below the surface. Naturally cold water makes its way to the Citys Pumping Station. There, heat exchangers facilitate the energy transfer between the icy cold lake water and the closed chilled water supply loop. This cold lake water is pumped to the building and used to cool Carrier Connex Incs data centre. This process reduces electricity use by up to 90% compared with conventional air-conditioning, eliminates tones of carbon dioxide annually and cuts polluting CFC refrigerants. Only the coldness of the lake water is harnessed, not the actual water, so DLWC provides a truly unique, green alternative to conventional air conditioning.

Carrier Connect has also gone one green step further by utilizes the Fenwal Novec 1230 engineered fire suppression system, designed for use with 3M Novec 1230 fire protection fluid and is the newest agent in Halon alternatives. Its environmentally friendly profile is non ozone-depleting has a five-day atmospheric lifetime and a global warming potential of only 1.
