You will also want to leave enough space around your fire pit for people to gather safely without feeling crowded.
If you plan on using your cast iron pit things like roasting marshmallows and hot dogs outdoors on a summer night, make sure that the materials in the pit and whatever materials you are burning are considered food safe. Some chemicals used to treat your fire pit, or those used in "easy light" logs may be safe to breathe, but not to eat.
Cast iron can be rested and damaged if left to sit in water for too long. Store it in a dry place when not in use. If you must leave your product out in your yard, be sure to purchase a cover to help keep it dry.
