Cast stone is a widely based material that has been used for many years with pre historic buildings. Many historic buildings that have columns as part of their design often would use cast stone as the material to create a solid base for these old buildings with columns. Cast stone can be used anywhere in your structure: Trim, columns, fountains, window surrounds, archways, balustrade, mantels, panels, planters, restoration projects and custom designs. A wide variety of choice that is why cast stone is still widely used today.

A distressed or smooth buff, or alternatively a light buff or dark buff can also be produced for the colour effect. It is either hand lay to show off the natural effect of the cast stone or it can be sprayed into the moulds using special machinery that does come at a heavy cost that is a disadvantage of the stone choice. What must also be considered before simply going for the cheap option is the moulding equipment is of high quality, you get a better finish and a more natural desired look for the exterior finish.

However there are a lot of rival materials to be created for cast stone for a desired cut: Limestone, granite, coral and slate are all other possible materials that can be replaced by cast stone. However a sandstone texture is much more desired because of the advantages it offers buyers. For example, sandstone is much stronger than limestone and if either were to be put under intense force, sandstone would be a much solid base and not be affected by the force.

Window surroundings have often been used by cast stone as they provide the windows with stern resistance and will give good protection to the windows inside and outside. Also a lot of housing materials are often put under the adverse conditions of the weather. A lot of materials can be affected by rain however the cast stone performs much better to other natural cut stones which makes it a more popular choice for buildings.
