Herbalism is one of the easiest professions to level, and it's completely free. You will actually make gold while leveling it and the low level herbs sell for loads at the auction house because of the Cataclysm expansion. Everyone wants to leveling up their character to 85 and the ones that are at that level will probably level up a Goblin or a Worgen. This is perfect for you because you will be able to sell the low level herbs to lazy people or the ones that don't have time to farm it. The price will vary a lot depending on which server you play on, but I guarantee you that it's profitable on every server of the whole game.

-- Alma Jainrose (Redridge Mountains)

-- Cemorrhan (The Exodar)

-- Herbalist Pomeroy (Elwynn Forest)

-- Shylamir (Stormwind)

Best Place For Herb Farming

The best zones for finding herbs as a low level alliance player is at Elwynn Forest and Teldrasill, here you will find Peace Bloom, Silverleaf, and Earthroots. After that you should continue to Westall where you will find Silverleaf and Earthroot, and in some cases Mage royal, these tend to go for quite a lot at the auction house so if you see one, take it.

Then you should be heading to Redridge mountains where you will find Bruiseweed, Kingsblood and Wild steelblooms.

You can also go to Duskwood if you don't like redridge mountains because this places is filled with herbs from peace bloom to Kingsblood. Stonetalon Mountains can be nice if your server isn't too crowded but it's mostly a waste of time, but I do recommend that you check it out, just in case.

Then there's the Arathi Highlands and the Alterac Mountains, this is where you will find almost every single fadeleaf in the game, and because the place of those is so narrowed down, they will sell for some nice gold at the Auction House.

And then we have one of my all time favorite zones, the Swamp of Sorrows (SoS). You will be able to find most herbs of the game here and you can, just by looking at it, see that it's the perfect place for herbs. If you are going to farm herbs somewhere, it should be at this place.

And Feralas, which does have sungrass but other than that, it's not that good for making gold. Once you hit 60 the herbs won't be worth that much anymore because of Death Knights that has been lowering the price for quite some time, but thankfully, this got fixed in Cataclysm and you should be able to profit from herbalism from level 1-525.
