Cats or Dogs? The Epic Battle!

For centuries the epic battle between the species has raged

, which is intellectually superior. Cats or dogs? There are valid arguments for both sides, but how do you measure something like this?

Is the intelligence of creatures such as cats and dogs measured in their ability to learn and perform tasks, or in the capacity to be self reliant?

It's no secret that dogs possess the ability to learn and perform many complex tasks, it's no wonder they are called man's best friend when they can be taught just about anything from fetching a stick to rescuing people. They are very loyal and social creatures.

Cats on the other hand are far harder to teach tricks too. Cats are sneaky and crafty creatures and as so, seem to only learn a task when it benefits them e.g. a reward of some sort. It seems that cats possess the ability to weigh up situations and deduce what is worth learning and what is not.

Studies show that a cats physical brain structure is very similar to that of a human, they take on and process information collected by their five senses, just like a human does. It's also worth noting that cats have the ability to retain memories, they can and will learn just from watching and observing your movements and actions. So next time you think your cat is just being lazy, relaxing and snoozing, remember they could be watching you, and learning...

Dogs love attention, it's no secret. They love to please their human companions. Cats on the other hand seem somewhat anti-social at times, it's my opinion that cats are self reliant and content and so do not need attention all the time. Dogs rely on humans far more than a cat does, cats are very self reliant and strong willed. Cats also possess the ability to adapt to an environment far quicker than dogs.

It's still unsure which species is superior, maybe we will never find an answer to this debate, who knows but then again, maybe one day we will. Until then though, all we can do is speculate. Cats or Dogs, who knows...
