Causes Of Rosacea
Although the exact causes of rosacea are unknown
, there are many things you can do to treat the condition and give you the clean, clear feeling that you desire. This article will talk about some of the causes and what natural things you can do to clear it up.
The exact causes of rosacea are still unknown. For people suffering from rosacea, the solution cannot come fast enough. Doctors are still doing the research to find the cause and cure for rosacea, having made some progress in finding new points of commonality between the symptoms and the disease. Until then, rosacea patients have used antibiotics, diet management and certain skin treatments to treat their rosacea, but not cure it completely. What is known about the origins of rosacea is that it is predominantly in Caucasians, and is three times more prominent in women than in men.
While the specific cure and cause of rosacea is not known, there are several suspected factors:
Genetics inherited from family
Exposure to the sun and/or genetic factors with sun exposure
The Demodex folliculorum, a mite found in hair follicles
Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria found in stomach ulcers
Medications that can cause the blood vessels to widen
Gastrointestinal disease
These are the factors that doctors feel may cause the Rosacea to begin with.
There are also factors that can contribute to flare-ups, such as:
Exposure to the sun
Sun damage on the affected area
A physical response to emotional stimuli like stress, anxiety, fear or embarrassment.
Heavy exercise
Changes in the weather, such as humidity levels and wind
Alcohol
Spicy foods
Foods that have high levels of histamines
Certain acne treatments that contain benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin and isotretinoin
Microdermabrasion
Chemical peels
Hot caffeinated beverages such as tea and coffee
An interesting discovery was made when researchers looked into the area of intestinal bacteria as being a root cause of rosacea. They noticed that rosacea patients have elevated levels of hydrogen in their systems. These elevated levels of hydrogen indicate a higher than average bacterial count from the small intestine. When patients were treated with antibiotics that killed the bacteria, their rosacea symptoms went into remission for up to nine months after the initial treatments. Patients were able to return for a second course of antibiotics and the symptoms went into remission again.
While the exact cause of rosacea is still not known, researchers are making progress in this area of study. Until then, it does help to take preventative measures against rosacea flare ups by using sunscreen or wearing hats with big rims and staying away from hot, caffeinated beverages and alcohol.
Until the cause of rosacea can be found, preventative measures can help the sufferer to keep flare ups to a minimum, making living with the disease more tolerable for those that still suffer with it. Natural cures have proven very effective in treating rosacea and have the benefit of having no side effects. If you want to stop your symptoms completely, it is worth the effort to find out what is causing them for you and treating your system with care. Your body wants to be healthy, naturally. Give it the opportunity it needs. Some simple and direct changes in diet can make all the difference and stop your embarrassing flushing forever.
