The PS3 yellow light of death is an indication for a failure of the hardware. This failure is commonly caused by factors like cooling and heating element the leads to hardware malfunction or one of the diodes or capacitors in the power supply is not working any more. However, this can also be caused by overheating of the console, a severe error of the hard disk or a malfunction of the Blu-ray drive.

The PS3 yellow light of death happens as soon as you switch on the system and it begins as usually for several moments and then rather than booting, it begins beeping 3 times while showing a faint yellow light, which after that becomes a red light.

The PS3 yellow light of death is an error which is not easy to fix and you only have three options. The first option is to check the cable connections and the power supply to make sure that they are connected correctly. The second option is to send your console to Sony for a repair. But this is only a good option for those whose console is still under warranty because otherwise you have to pay $150 for the repairs. Fixing the error yourself or looking out for a third party repairer is your last option.

It is a cheaper option to ensure that the PS3 yellow light of death does not occur. It is very important that you operate the system in cool places as well as to give it enough time to cool between playing sessions to prevent overheating. The other important thing you can do is to ensure that the connections are correct and the system is dust free at all times.
