STEP 3:

As a safety measure its better to keep a system backup. In some cases the system might crash and you will suffer a huge loss if you are unable to recover it. Thus, to be on safe sides keep a backup of your hard drive.

STEP 4:

Now before plugging in the webcam, install the software from the CD that came with the webcam. In some cases the CD is not required and the webcam is just a plug-n-play device. Also check for the updated drivers from the internet if available.

STEP 5:

Now plug the webcam. If the software has been installed correctly the computer will show that it has detected a new device. If there is any problem with the software then the computer will show an error. In most of the cases the webcams uses the USB ports to be plugged in. So make sure your USB port is working properly, else try placing it in another port.

STEP 6:

Now as you are done with the installation of the webcam, download a video messaging application. There are many free applications like AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and many more.

But here is a word of caution. Make sure your children are not using the webcams unattended. Also make sure that the webcam is not exposed to heat or sunlight. Enjoy your webcam chat sessions now.
