Western Red Cedar is more reddish in color, and is available in different grades and a choice of a smooth or rough surface; while Northern White Cedar, which mostly originates in Canada, is a pale yellow. Regardless of the color and grade of cedar that you choose, its a wood that lends itself well to both transparent and solid staining. Differences in grain and texture also add to the diversity and ensure a variety of different looks.
