Celebrate Christmas But Remember These Safety Tips For Landlords And Tenants
Christmas is not only the time for you to celebrate but also when you should remember
to practise safety for your home, whether you are a tenant or a landlord. With the holiday season started already, people start decorating their homes with lights, candles and much more! But this is just the time when the landlords should be careful about their homes and can remind the tenants also to keep the home safe.
Tenants should be more so careful about decorations that they use in the home as any damages done to the property due to tenants negligence will have to be borne by them.
Share:Whatever is the type of ownership, you must make sure to take care of the basic safety tips every holiday season to ensure a happier festive season. Here are some pointers to make it easier for you to remember:
1. Replace your indoor and outdoor Christmas lights every few years to ensure their quality is sustained. Keeping them for more than 3-4 years can damage their wires and trigger something unfavourable.
2. As a safety rule for every decoration, never use more than 3 cords of lights per an extension cord as this is very likely to cause a fire hazard.
3. Always remember to turn off the Christmas lights when stepping out of the house. This is the best and easiest thing to avoid any accident, still most people forget about this!
4. Exterior Christmas lights and any extension cords must be certified for exterior use and should be plugged into residual-current device protected outlets.
5. If you have a wood burning fireplace in your property, don"t forget to have the chimney cleaned annually. A quarter inch thick or thicker layer of creosote formed inside the chimney is likely to cause a fire hazard.
6. Avoid throwing any waste stuff in to the fireplace, especially wrapping paper (which is quite common these days. Those materials tend to catch fire very easily and may cause further fire.
7. Candles are a favourite when it comes to brightening up the house during festivity. But they can be risky if not handled properly. So be careful while using candles for decoration.
The point is that nobody likes to get a call amidst all the merriment telling that someone has been seriously wounded on their property or that the house has been damage due to a fire accident. So pay attention to the safety measures and also give your tenants a quick reminder of these simple yet imperative safety tips.
