A number of patients paying cash for elective surgical treatments such as hip and knee replacements and cheap plastic surgeries have increased in countries like India, Thailand, and Costa Rica. Especially those individuals who don't have medical coverage in their domestic country are attracted towards low-cost, high-standards medical facilities available at overseas medical facilities. These people are often self-employed or associated with small business organizations that in turn don't offer employee's medical insurance expenses.

Patients and health-care facility seekers want to hear about tried and tested hospital, clinics or health-care providers who provide excellent health-care facilities at decent prices. They don't opt for the cheapest when it comes to making the health-care decisions. Yes, they do want to save money, but not at the cost of their health. They seek value addition in terms of great customer service and clubbing health with tourism. This is one such area which is still unexplored by medical tourism industry and if medical records are to be believed, the need is high and people are ready to opt and pay for medical treatments than delay the same due to cash crush or economic slowdown.

Several western governments are going under pressure to cut public expenses which usually means dip in health-care provisions. As a result, the aging population demands better health-care facilities and that only means those positive days ahead for medical tourism!
