Charleston by Motorcycle by:Emily Joseph

Charleston is one of the more picturesque cities in the country

, certainly, with its widely varying landscapes that include some spectacular rivers, a harbor, and the Atlantic Ocean. Nature isn't all that's on display here, either. There are plenty of historical sights to engage the mind and the memory, as well as plenty of varied attractions that will appeal to guests of all ages. There's more to Charleston than meets the eye, although what does meet the eye is pretty remarkable. With the variations at such a high degree, and with so many dazzling things to look at, it's no wonder that it has a pretty big appeal to those who like to live on two wheels.

For motorcycle enthusiasts, there may be few cities in the US that seem more suited for rides. There are plenty of twisties, and all the magnificent vistas that anyone could possibly want. For beginners, there are plenty of small rides that are easy, and will give you a chance to get to know how your bike behaves on turns. It's not necessarily a simple place to learn, however, and anyone would be well-advised to keep an open mind for new trails, but also open eyes for possible sudden shifts in the roads. It is one of the biggest concerns, and the biggest fears, certainly, that the road could suddenly drop out from beneath you. That's not very likely, but a sudden curve that needs considerable slowing suddenly is a very common thing, so be on guard.

There are plenty of lookout points all over Charleston for bikers to take in the exquisite scenery. Visiting historical points is one of the many ways you can make your way around town, and in the surrounding areas, and there is so much to see. There are plenty of longer rides for more experienced bikers, as well as day trips for riders with a little bit of experience under their belts, who would like to enjoy a leisurely tour through town. From farmlands to mountains, along with loops and trails, there's a lot to choose from. Charleston also has a pretty active biker community, with events that happen all year round. It's one of the many benefits of living in a place where there are mild winters as well as summers, so that the roads and the seasons are right for a ride.
