Charlotte Bront's Famous Novel "jane Eyre" Has Been Adapted Numerous Times On The Big Screen, And

The film in question is being co-produced by BBC Films

, Focus Features and Ruby Pictures, and is expected to release in 2011. The adapted screenplay by Moira Buffini was ready by 2008, when it was named as one of the best unproduced screenplays in British film in the Brit List, compiled by the film industry. Cary Fukunaga (renowned for the Spanish-language "Sin Nombre") signed on as director in October 2009.

Mia Wasikowska has been signed on to play the titular character Jane Eyre. The actress first won recognition and critical acclaim for "In Treatment", an HBO production. She followed it up with quite a number of films in which she played supporting roles- which gave her a chance to work with actors like Daniel Craig, Hillary Swank, and Hal Holbrook. Most recently, she appeared in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathway. Two of her films, "The Kids are All right" and "Restless", are scheduled to hit theaters soon.

Michael Fassbender, will be playing the role of Edward Rochester, Eyre's employer and also her love interest. He appeared recently in "Inglorious Basterds" and will appear in the coming-soon films "Jonah Hex" and "Birdsong".

Co-starring with them will be Jamie Bell (as St John, a missionary who is Jane's cousin and also her prospective suitor), Judi Dench (as Mrs Fairfax, the housekeeper of Thornfield Manor), and Sally Hawkins (as Jane's aunt Sarah Reed), among others.

Filming has recently begun and is expected to be completed in nine weeks from the starting date. The shoots are taking place on location in various parts of England like Derbyshire, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, and London.

This version of "Jane Eyre" will supposedly focus more on the dark, gothic elements. Although an official, detailed plot of the film isn't available, it has been reported that the focus will be on the effect of Thornfiled House and Mr Rochester's coldness on Jane Eyre.
