Keswick is a charming little market town found within the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria, England. With a population of just about 5000 people, this civil parish lies within the historic county boundaries of Cumberland and dates back to the 13th century. Outdoor activities

Keswick is blessed with amazing picturesque natural beauty. It is situated on the shores of Derwentwater, which you can explore via lake cruises. If you prefer to take walks or ride your bicycle, then Whinlatter Forest Park is just the place to visit in Keswick this location offers spectacular views of the Lake District and Scotland and has many marked trails and paths for both walkers and bikers. At the centre of the park is a visitor centre, shop and tearoom so you do not have to worry about carrying your own refreshments. Another place to explore is Castlerigg Stone Circle, which is a collection of beautiful stones situated in a field above Keswick. The field is surrounded by majestic mountains Blencathra, Skiddaw and St Johns Vale. This area is a perfect place to view the sunset and sunrise and provides a gorgeous background for pictures.

Indoor activities

There is much to do indoors at Keswick. The Keswick Theatre is one of the most notable landmarks it is the home of the modern Theatre by the Lake which is the permanent home for festivals and repertoire. Keswick museum showcases the story and history of this parish it is a Victorian museum and has various art exhibitions as well during the year. Keswick is also the site of the Cumberland Pencil Museum, which shows how pencils have been used from back in the day. This museum has a children's drawing area, shop and allegedly claims to have the world's largest pencil! For car enthusiasts, Cars of the Stars is another museum to visit this place contains vehicles from film and television, including the Batmobile, the James Bond Collection and so on!
