India is a country full of paradoxes. Be it economic stratas in the society, culture, climate or the terrain. Geographic Location : India's northern and north-eastern states are partially located in the Himalayan range. The rest part of it consists of the fertile Indo-Gangetic plane. Bordering with Pakistan, in the west lies arid Thar desert. Southern part of India is very different from rest of India. Entire south is composed of peninsular Deccan plateau, which is dwelt on two hilly coastal ranges, the Western and Eastern ghats. India is home of rivers and have a religious significance of each river. Ganga and Yamuna are the main two largest rivers. Other rivers are Brahmaputra, Godavari, Kaveri, Narmada and Krishna.India has three archipelagos - Lakshadweep, which lies off the south-western coast, the volcanic Andaman and Nicobar Islands in south -east and the wild Sunderbans in the Ganges Delta of West Bengal.

Enviornment : Mercurial climatic conditions is matched with India's diverse nature. Most of the country lies in tropics and so India remain warm and humid most of the year, but it is cold in the Himalayas, where freezing mountains are delightful. In many parts of India there is a rainy season between June and September, known as the Monsoon (meaning seasonal wind). The Monsoon brings very heavy rain, and in some areas flooding. However, sometimes the rain fails to arrive, causing problems across the countryside, with crops failing and land becoming very dry. Drought can be as terrible a problem as floods.
