Chattanooga Dentist Provides Same Day Crowns With Cerec

CHATTANOOGA, TN-Dr. Charles Hooper, Jr., family dentist in Chattanooga, and his associates at East Brainerd Dentistry are providing same-day crowns to their patients with the use of CEREC technology. CEREC offers a vast improvement over the previous methods for creating crowns and fillings.

In the past, dentists would first have to take an impression to create a crown. This impression would need to be sent to a dental lab, where it would take between two and three weeks for a crown to be created. In between appointments, patients would be fitted with a temporary crown, which have a tendency to fall out or break. The permanent crown would then be installed during a second appointment.

With CEREC, a digital imaging system is used to scan the area and create a crown that will fit in perfectly with the patient's teeth. This digital scan is sent to a milling machine on-site and the permanent crown will be created in a matter of minutes.
