Cheap Holidays In Spain: Your Guide To Entertainment In Costa Brava And Beyond

There is one big reason that people choose to holiday in Spain: the sun

. Its hot but not too hot for us Brits. Better still, Spain offers a variety of cheap holidays, with plenty of opportunities to have fun at the beach and poolside. And theres plenty of entertainment beyond the sun, sea and sand too. From pubs and clubs to karaoke and festivals, here is a selection of the best entertainments to be found across the region.

Costa Brava offers a variety of entertainment. The Costa Brava is famed for its stunning countryside, rolling with vast savannah, thick forestry and imposing mountains all set across the backdrop of the beautiful Pyrenees. But away from the topography, aside from the cultural historicism, there is plenty of fun to be had. For great deals on accommodation nearby, click here.

The Spanish love a good party. Nightlife is, therefore, an essential part of most holidays to Spain. The Costa Brava is certainly no exception. As expected from such an eclectic region, the entertainment is rich and varied, always leisurely, and ranging from full-on to low-key.

For large groups of friends, the nightlife in Lloret de Mar is perfect: lively and abundant. The resort boasts over one hundred bars and pubs, as well as a range of nightclubs and late-night music venues. All things considered, Lloret is probably the number one party-cum-entertainment spot in Costa Brava; the type of place where bar-reps roam the streets, offering free entry and free drinks. Of course, any place where the British flock is going to be hot on karaoke. It would be pointless naming the karaoke bars in Lloret, because there are just so many, as well as hidden gems like foam parties, bungee runs, fun fair rides and attractions.

Entertainment in Blanes, however, is much more laid back and placid, attracting families with small children and couples (as opposed to larger groups of people looking to expend some energy). This is the place to find a more authentic Spain, with Spanish music and dancing performed at many live venues, as well as lower key events, such as open-mic nights, talent shows and cabarets. This is definitely the area if you prefer your entertainment more traditional. If you visit during the summer months, then traditional dancing, such as the sardana, can often be seen performed in the town square. Also, at the end of July, the annual feria fills the streets with parades and processions, with fancy dress and live music.

Girona is also good for more authentic and tranquil entertainment, where there are jazz bars that boast both resident and visiting musicians. Patrons are asked to relax and imbibe the mellifluous sounds of Spanish guitar.
