Check If Your Computer Desk Is Designed Ergonomically

How is the proper height of the computer table determined? You can check this by sitting back on your chair. Lay your arms on the table and pretend to be typing. Look at the angle made by your forearm and upper arm while in the typing position. The correct position will have the forearm in right angle with the upper arm. If this is less than a right angle (or an L-shape), you are in a non-ergonomic position. If this position happens, make adjustment on your desk until you achieve the right angle position. To do this, you can lower the table or increase the height of your chair. You have to check that if your feet are not rested on the floor when you increase the height of your chair, you need a foot stool to anchor your feet. Your legs should also be in right angel when seated. If you are shopping for computer desk, have these right angle positions in mind.

An ergonomic computer desk should not be shiny or glossy in order to avoid extra glare. A table with matte finish will eliminate glare. Too shiny finish can stress the eyes. Your desk should not be overloaded with clutters. Even if your computer desk is bought with an ergonomic feature, you will still be in a cramped position when your table is full of clutters. In addition, never stock your things under the table. This will cramp your legs thus restricting their movements. An ergonomic computer desk and chair have to make you comfortable while working; this means that all parts of your body are free to move.

There are computer desks that were built with an ergonomic keyboard tray. You also have to check how compatible this is to your chair, bearing in mind that your lower and upper arms should be in right angle position while tapping the keyboard. Ensure that your face in not too close to the computer screen. The closeness will stress your shoulder, back, neck and eyes.
