Checking Out Leather Watch Straps

A watch is more than just a piece to tell time on today

. These are part of a fashion statement. The watch chosen tells people who you are. Not just the face of the watch, but the type of watch band. There are a variety of different watch straps out there and choosing the right one is just as important as the type of watch it is attached to.

Leather is one of the most flexible styles of watch bands available. They are versatile enough to go perfectly with any ensemble and can be worn in any occasion. The large selection allows them to go well with almost any type of watch whether it is the on the lowest end of the price scale or the highest. Their popularity extends to the ease in changing the band to fit any mood or style of the day and is never out of place in the board room or even the ball room.

Alligator and crocodile skins are common popular leathers, especially when it comes to the big names in watches. However, there are a variety of other leathers that look just as good and are just as popular. One can go with a pig skin, calf skin or sheep skin band easily or they can go for exotic leather like stingray skin, shark skin, lizard skin or even ostrich skin straps.

The right type of leather is important but so is how it looks. Leather bands can come in matte or glossy varieties. They also come in an array of colors with brown, black, and blue being the most common, but for the fashion sensitive person a lot of other colors are also available. Thickness is another thing to consider, some bands are thin with a delicate feel while other are thicker and have a chunky feel to them.

Softness and padding is another factor to remember before deciding on the strap you want. Some leather is very soft and fits like a glove the first time it is worn. But there are others that are a bit stiff and need to be broken in with time. Padding also accounts for how stiff a watch band can be. You can find some with heavy padding, thin lining or no padding at all.

Choosing the right leather, color, and padding thickness is important, but so is how comfortable the band is. You want one that looks good, but it has to fit well and go around the wrist in a comfortable way too. One that is too loose or too tight can be a bit annoying in time. Checking out a few different types of watch straps and trying them on before choosing will let you see how good it looks on your wrist, as well as how comfortable it is.
