Chelsea Handler Tickets - Supporting Lgbt

Getting ready to host the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center's 38th Anniversary Gala

and Auction at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, Chelsea Handler talked to the Village Voice recently, quelling rumors about whether she's a gay man or a gay man in a woman's body. "Sometimes I feel like I'm a gay man, sometimes I'm a gay man in a woman's body, and sometimes I'm a gay woman. It depends on the time of day."

All joking aside, Handler is a vocal advocate for the cause and a high profile LGBT community spokeswoman; an opponent of Prop 8, Handler was the Grand Marshal at the 2009 Los Angeles Pride parade and as a recipient for the Ally for Equality Award by the Human Rights Campaign, that recognizes the efforts for those who decide time and energy in order to better the lives of LGBT, Handler is looking forward to knocking heads with her co-host, Wanda Sykes, another forceful advocate. The 38th Anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday, October 24th in Los Angeles.

Still, there is little else that Handler takes seriously, or at least so it seems. As one of the biggest stars on E!, she is also dating the CEO of the company that oversees her network, Ted Harbert, as well as being a bestselling author and actress. While she spends a lot of time harking on reality show guests and run down actresses, she must be doing something right when it comes to selling Chelsea Handler tickets online, as they sell out in whatever venue she performs.

While her style might be a bit more chic, Handler's jokes are anything less than what she first brought to the stage. "I'm probably a lot less edgy than when I started out," she said to Village Voice. "I was very angry, probably because I spent so much time waiting table that I was spent emotionally. And you don't know if you're ever going to get a break - it's really hard. I was a lot crasser and more violent-minded than I am now. This is the softer side of me. It's less angry and more jocular. That's what I love about doing the show-you get to make fun of everything E! represents and the attention we all pay to celebrities."

Born in New Jersey to a Jewish father and Mormon mother, the youngest of six was an easy target for her elder siblings - and there lies her strength for comedy. Though she remains unapologetic for her brash and acerbic manner, her interviews always include some sort of personal repertoire in reference to her own family; now that her show has been signed on through 2012 she is sure to share more personal antidotes into the future. Her talents lie not only in her comedy but her attack-like interview nature that throws off her guests when she shoots question after question at them. She was first seen as the mainstay on Oxygen's Girls Behaving Badly, a reality show that had its female cast play outrageous jokes on unsuspecting victims, and started Chelsea Lately in 2007.
