The Cheltenham Festival is jump racing's Mecca, with thousands of racing fans making the pilgrimage to witness the greatest show on turf year after year.

This year's Festival, which takes place between Tuesday 15 March and Friday 18 March, bears more significance than usual with it being its Centenary Year. One hundred years on from its inauguration and the Festival is still as popular as ever.

The three courses - Old, New and Cross Country - play host to 26 races in total across the four days, including twelve Grade 1s which feature the best horses from Britain and Ireland.

The unique characteristics of the Cheltenham course provide a stern examination for both horse and jockey. The undulations and tricky downhill fences combined with the gruelling uphill finish test a horse's physical and mental strength to the max.

With 10,000 spectators flocking over from Ireland, you can't help but be blown away by the Festival atmosphere. The famous Cheltenham 'roar', loudest as the tapes go up for the first race of the meeting, the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, is something everyone must experience at least once.

The Champion Hurdle takes centre stage on Tuesday, followed by the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Wednesday, the World Hurdle on Thursday before culminating with the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday.
