Chemotherapy is a lengthy treatment procedure that would take long hours and not only that, physical side effects such as nausea, anxiety, heavy emotional weight, and losing hair are definitely bound to occur that could make things worst for a Cancer patient.
But why suffer when Eastern medicine such as Traditional Chinese treatment known as acupuncture can actually help ease the pain?
Acupuncture is an ancient form of healing that originated in China from thousands of years back. It utilizes hair-like needles to stimulate the acupuncture points located along the meridian pathways of the body's vital energy flow, known as Qi. Each acupuncture point is associated with a specific organ function of the body. The process of acupuncture aims to help revitalize the body's organ systems the natural way without the harmful intervention of chemicals.
Acupuncture has been known to alleviate cancer-related nausea, as well as other symptoms such as numbness, pain and anxiety.

It can also affect the proper function of the nerve cells of the body causing neuropathic conditions.
TCM, on the other hand, can help ease the side-effects of chemotherapy drugs and can also help the patient to recover fast. However, acupuncture is not considered as an alternative treatment for cancer but rather a complementary treatment that can help alleviate the adverse effects of chemotherapy.
Acupuncture can be complemented with different Chinese herbs to treat specific chemotherapy drug side-effects such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, as well as nerve cell damage.
These Chinese herbs include licorice root (gancao), barbary wolfberry fruit (gouqizi), common clubmoss herb (shenjincao), sweetgum fruit (lulutong), inula flower (xuanfuhua), and fleeceflower root (heshouwu), among others.
Acupuncture treatments also require a patient to observe proper diet that consists of easy digestible food, and to stay away from nicotine, alcohol, and spicy food, and most of all to have enough sleep, after all no amount of treatment would be effective unless the patient takes the extra effort of observing a healthy lifestyle.
