Salmons admitted that since he joined the team in a trade last February, he's been impressed with Noah. He continued to say that Noah works hard.

The Bulls had a 16-0 scoring push in the third and fourth quarters that turned a nine-point deficit into a seven-point lead at 77-70. Bobcats' Flip Murray had the opportunity to win the game for his team in the closing seconds, but missed two three-pointers. Charlotte coach Larry Brown, who was fined $60,000 for criticizing the replacement referees in the preseason, made it clear he did not like the calls from the officials in the Bulls game.

Brown was infuriated that Boris Diaw, Gerald Wallace, and Murray did not get calls to go to the charity stripe. The coach said, "We were driving the ball and we were trying to get to the free-throw line. We had a hard time doing that." Chicago led the game 92-87 with one minute left when the Bulls' Luol Deng missed two free throws, and the Bobcats' Tyson Chandler converted two to cut the lead to 92-90 with 21 seconds remaining. Salmons then made it a four-point game after he hit one of two free throws with 19.8 seconds left. Later in the game, knowing they were down only by three, Charlotte took a timeout to try to design a play that would force overtime.

Murray missed a three-pointer, however, and when Diaw grabbed the rebound and sent a pass back behind the arc to Murray, he hit the rim on his second 3-point attempt. The ball then sprawled out and Wallace knocked it out of bounds along the sidelines with 3.3 seconds left of regulation. The Bulls could breathe easily as they secured another victory. Salmons swished 9 of 16 shots, including two 3-pointers. Noah, meanwhile, hit 10 of 12 shots and reached double figures in rebounds for the fifth time while he recorded his third double-double this season. Noah has stepped up his game since Tyrus Thomas had surgery on a broken left forearm and will be out of the lineup for the next four to six weeks.

Now in his third year, Noah has exhibited some post moves he did not have in the past, such as his deadly hook shots. The forward acknowledged that he was not going to post 21 points every night, but he did expect to improve his rebounding and defensive effort. Noah added that on offense, he's "just going to try to clean up the glass." Deng contributed with 14 points and Derrick Rose had 13. Kirk Hinrich scored six of nine and Chicago managed to win despite going 12 for 22 at the foul line. With Thomas out of the lineup, Chicago coach Vinny Del Negro stated he might bring in another player. The Bulls also have the option to play rookie James Johnson.
