Just when you thought Toyota's problems were over, some ghosts have come back to haunt the Japanese manufacturer. It's a sad state of affairs; after some nasty recalls on the Prius and other models, the automaker has a lot of work to do to get its brand back to its original prominence. Now, it looks like Chicago Lexus RX dealerships were dealt a short deck by parent company Toyota with the recall and sales halt of the Lexus GX 460 SUV. Lexus has always had a great reputation for excellence, but an accident like this is bound to really hurt the brand and the opinions of its luxury clientele. It just represents another blow to a struggling Toyota lineup that will manifest itself at Chicago Lexus GX dealers throughout the entire Chicagoland area.

And to think, this was all spurred on by one of the most trusted names in media, the indelible Consumer Reports, a publication that prides itself on its ability to accept no advertising content whatsoever. When the publication revealed that Chicago Lexus GX drivers might be in danger of roll-overs, a more in-depth investigation revealed that there truly was a defect in the electronic stability control and that it was crucial for Lexus to take the vehicle off the market. Fortunately for Toyota, Lexus was on top of this one, and it looks like all the effort put out in the recall was worth it. For Chicago Lexus RX dealers, the problem was that, if the electronic stability control didn't kick in on time in a turn, the tail end would slide too far and, if the car hit a curb, the big SUV could flip over. That's a lot more liability for Toyota to have on its hands following the nasty recalls the company just went through.

Overall, Lexus has been keeping a pretty good reputation for itself. In fact, Chicago Lexus RX dealers are in the process of rolling out one of its most innovative cars yet, a vehicle that borrows from the Prius engine model and throws the technology inside a smaller SUV. If you haven't heard of it yet, you'll be seeing it in the news a lot very soon. I'm talking about the brand new CT200h, which is going to be one of the first fuel efficient vehicles of its kind. Lexus rolled out the big guns for the launch of the CT200h,launching a really off-kilter marketing ploy that consists of an interactive game with none other than Norman Reedus, star of such movies as Boondock Saints and Boondock Saints II. Okay, so maybe he's not the top of the Hollywood A-list, but he's a pretty damn good pickup considering the circumstances.

Regardless, Chicago Lexus GX dealers are excited about the launch of the brand new vehicle and the fact that Consumer Reports has taken its brand new GX 460 SUV off of its "Do Not Buy" list. The step forward has allowed Lexus to put the car back on the market with less fear of a consumer backlash and subsequent drop in sales. It would seem that consumers let this recall slide (no pun intended).
