Child Development

When it comes to parenting now a days, there are so many techniques from so called

"parenting gurus" that it would take months to just read up on all of them. When it comes to parenting I think what is important is finding what works early and sticking to it. All kids aren't the same and will react differently to different parenting techniques. I remember when I had my first kid and how I was going to be a cool parent that thought my kids how to behave well. Once my kid was able to walk and talk I realized that raising a kid wasn't easy and in fact was quite difficult. If you are about to have a kid or are thinking about having one in the future, here are some things I did to help with my child's

development.

One of the first things I set up was a reward system for my kid. I know a lot of you are thinking that this idea is ridiculous but it actually worked for me and could for you. What I did was keep a notebook on hand with me at all time and would give my kid points for when he was good and subtract points when they were bad. With my kid knowing this he usually behaved as he knew that if he was able to gain a certain amount of points he would be rewarded. I know goods should be good without rewards but this technique made things a lot easier for me. Another thing that I did to help with his development is limit the amount of TV he could watch. I made sure he was doing things that were more productive because I didn't want him just sitting there with his brain not being stimulated. One thing that I did do that he reacted well to was letting him use my iPad. I downloaded a bunch of different educational apps that he could use that not only helped him learn but also he found fun. A third thing that I made sure I did was keeping a united front with my wife. Kids are good at working you down and making you turn on one another. By sticking together we had the numbers and were able to better control him from running wild.

Having a kid is a lot of fun and if you want to help him develop to his full potential you need to work at it and always encourage them.
