Some sources reported estimates that say that more than 700,000 children are lost each year. This number could be higher than 800,000 according to other sources. The Amber Alert Registry reports it to be one child lost every forty seconds. The majority of these children are under seven with two year olds being at the greatest risk. Admittedly not all of these children were with their parents when they were lost but it could realistically be as many as half of them that were. Children wearing a child distance monitor have a far lesser chance of being missed by our watchful eyes. Preventing your child from getting too far away will always be a parent's best defense.

Our children can still get away from us, even with the greatest of efforts and care but there are measures we can take to help in this event. Some parents prefer to have their children wear ID tags because many young children cannot remember their address or phone number. Their reasoning is that if anyone should find the child they will know right away who they are and who to return them to. Only two percent of children currently wear ID tags of one sort or another. Also, The Amber Alert system has been in existence for some time now and there is an Amber Alert Registry which can expedite information about your child to law enforcement agencies. Having your child wear a child distance monitor will help to increase your odds that you'll never need to make use of these further safeguards.
