Child Internet Filter
So, as the internet continues to grow in size
, so does the amount of less than appropriate material for children. The adult industry has swept through the internet like a hurricane, leaving traces of pornography everywhere, or so it would seem. It isn't just the adult industry that is undesirable for your children to get a glimpse at either. There are thousands upon thousands of sites that feature graphic violence, racial abuse, torture, the list goes on. Add to that the booming trend of social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook where the young can be especially vulnerable to exploitation and we have a real dilemma. To filter, or not to filter?
Some take the line that we westerners are lucky enough to live in a democracy and they want their children to make their own mistakes and learn from them. Some say the internet isn't the bubbling cesspit pit others make it out to be and their is nothing to worry about.
Well, I'm all for democracy and I also don't think the internet is the 21st centuries black death, however, it is obvious to me that any self respecting parent needs to take steps to protect their children.
I'm a pretty open minded guy, as is my wife, but we have both come across images and videos on the internet that made us sick to the stomach as I am sure you have too. And we weren't searching for this stuff, it just popped up in a search, or perhaps a link someone posted on MySpace or Facebook under the title "cute puppies" Where ever they came from, you get the idea.
And that is that this stuff is literally everywhere. My son can go to Google, one of, if not the biggest internet based company in the world and bring up images of a revolting nature in a fraction of the time it takes me to make a cup of coffee. It really can happen that quick!
Obviously there are many child internet filters available that can help with this, but
the one we ended up settling on. You can enter keywords to block any site you like without knowing the URL of it, you can restrict access to the likes of MySpace and Facebook, you can stop children giving out personal details such as telephone numbers and addresses over messaging systems, you can even block access to over 50 P2P and file sharing applications with just 1 mouse click and prevent certain search terms and results from showing up in Google, Bing and all the other major search engines.
All in all, I think this could well be the best investment I have ever made in a piece of software. it gives us complete piece of mind while still letting our son have access to one of man's greatest ever creations. You can view a full review of this software and purchase it at
