Chili Recipes For Rvs, Motorhomes And Fifth Wheel Trailers
Hunting season has commenced and the temperatures are dropping
. In the mountains, the first dustings of snow have hit. Nighttime temperatures are reaching the 30's while daytime temperatures are warming into the 60s and 70s. After a long trek into the woods, hunger can build. There's nothing better to keep the belly warm than some hearty chili. For those camping in an RV, Motorhome or Fifth Wheel Trailer, there's nothing to fill your stomach when you get back to your site like chili.
Here are some great recipes that are easy to make no matter if you're camping in an RV, motor home or fifth wheel trailer. Feel free to substitute fresh game if you have it.
Chili Pie:
2 lbs.ground beef
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
one 15 oz. can of tomato sauce
1 medium onion, chopped
one 15 oz. can of chili beans
1/2 teaspoon salt
one six ounce box of cornbread mix made according directions (small amount of milk and one egg)
Brown onion in the butter. Add beef, brown it and drain off the fat. Add beans, chili powder, salt and tomato sauce. Cook 15 minutes in a covered Dutch oven. Mix cornbread as directed on package and spoon it over the meat and bean mixture. Replace the lid and cook for 20 to 30 minutes. - recipesource.tripod.com
White Chili:
4 cups chicken broth
3 chicken breasts (cooked & cut into 1" pcs)
2 15 oz cans great northern beans (rinsed & drained)
1 med. zucchini (diced)
1 onion (chopped)
1 Tbs. ground cumin
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tsp. chili powder
1 15 oz. can corn
1/2 cup sour cream
1 4 oz. can chopped green chiles
1 10 oz. can Rotel (original)
salt & pepper to taste
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together except for the sour cream in a crock pot. Cook on high for about 3-4 hours. Stir in sour cream about 5 minutes before serving.-Rv-dreams.com
Colorado Chili:
*3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
*1 1/2 pounds boneless pork, cut into 1 inch cubes
*1 tablespoon bacon drippings, or vegetable oil
*1 tablespoon vegetable oil
*1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
*1/4 cup chopped onion
*1 (4 ounce) can tomato sauce
*2 tablespoons chili powder
*1 teaspoon cumin
*1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
*salt and black pepper to taste
*3 cups water
Directions
1.Place 3 tablespoons flour in a plastic bag. Add pork and shake to lightly coat with flour. Set aside.
2.Heat bacon drippings and vegetable oil in a Dutch oven over medium high heat. Add pork and cook until meat is evenly browned, about 5 to 8 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon flour, and cook 3 minutes. Stir in the onion, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low and simmer until pork is just falling apart, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. -Allrecipes.com
