The first thing you need to do is begin learning everything you can about collecting porcelain. There are a lot of ways to do that today. You can look at auction catalogs both on and off line, books and magazines as well as specialty websites on the Internet.

Take a look at the pictures in the sites. There are many varieties of Chinese porcelain. There are classes of porcelain as well as collecting based on dynasties. And although it may be hard to choose just one, that is exactly what you should do. You should find something you genuinely feel a connection to. Something you'd want in your home whether it was valuable or not.
