Chiropractor Harrodsburg Ky | My Embarrassing Neck Pain Story Finally Comes Out

A few years back, I suffered an embarrassing injury that resulted in serious neck pain

. I suffered needlessly for days before telling my story and getting some help. Frankly, I had no idea that my embarrassing story could lead to my neck injury. After all, it was not my neck that I injured. Well, I did not think I injured my neck at the time of the injury. Here is my story.

Background:

I was a first year PPCD (preschool program for children with disabilities) teacher. This meant I worked with children with severe and multiple disabilities ages three to five years of age. This meant that I dealt with the most fragile and most precious of our little babies entering the school system. I was 30-years old at the time of the incident.

The Incident that Caused the Neck Pain:

It was recess time and I took the children out to the special playground. My aides and I went about setting the children on the appropriate equipment matching the needs of the children. This is important in developing the motor skills of the individual children (and you thought recess was just for fun!).

Well one precious little girl was very high functioning, and she was ready to learn to swing. I sat her on one swing, and I sat on the swing next to her. I slowly began to swing with big motions so she could imitate me, which she did. I was so proud of her! On the third swing, my swing came off the hinges and I went flying about ten feet through the air.

I came down very hard square on my bottom. It knocked the wind right out of me. It took me a good minute to regain my senses and get up. Of course, I could not say or do anything to cause alarm, as my poor children with special needs would not be able to handle seeing their teacher injured.

What Happened:

I went over to check the swing. I wanted to see if I had broken it or something. When I looked, what do you think I saw? Some prankster had tampered with the special education swings and rigged it to come off when the swing was in motion. I was so thankful I was on it and not the little girl. Nevertheless, I was severely injured.

The Injury:

A few days pass and my neck is killing me. My aides convince me to see a doctor, and he tells me to see a chiropractor. I was shocked! The chiropractor and the doctor both say that the swing incident did some weird compression stuff like an accordion and now my neck hurts.

The Chiropractor:

Well, they had to be right because the chiropractor does some adjustments and does some physical therapy, and I start feeling better. What really helped, though, was the transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS unit) he gave me.

I put these pads on my neck and shoulder, turn it on and electrical pulses contract the muscles in my neck. After about fifteen minutes, my neck and shoulders feel like I got a massage. I love that machine.

Conclusion:

To make a long story short, it is amazing how your neck and back is connected. An injury in your any part of your neck and back can effect other parts of your of your body because they are all connected. Don't be shy about seeing a doctor about an unrelated injury.
