Choosing A Good Rakeback Deal
If you play online poker then the first thing you should do is make sure you get a good rakeback deal
. Whenever you play poker you will pay rake so you"d be daft not to take the opportunity to get some of that money back. Rakeback benefits all poker players of all limits and all games. For those of you that are new to poker I"ll give a brief explanation of what rakeback is.
Poker rooms charge players rake which is usually around 5% and this is taken from every pot at the end of the hand. So if the pot is $10 the rake taken by the room will be $0.50. There is however a limit to the amount of rake taken and this is usually a maximum of $3. So if the pot was $100 the rake for that pot would $3 and not $5 which would be 5%. To put it another way the rake for any pot over $60 is never more than $3 and anything under $60 is 5% of the pot.
This does mean that lower limit players seem to be hit harder by rake. At the lower limits like NL5, NL10, and NL25 pots very rarely get above $60 meaning the percentage of rake paid is nearly always 5%. For higher limits where pots could be as high as $2000 the rake paid is not even 1% of the total pot.
Becoming a winning player at the low limits is therefore that little bit more difficult because of the percentage of the rake. Although this is true the competition at the lower levels is much easier which means a decent player can make up for the money lost to rake. But his doesn"t mean you don"t need rakeback. Rakeback is free money so take it!
The next think you need to decide is where to get rakeback. The answer to that question is any room you decide to play at. The first thing you need to do before you sign up to any online poker room is to get a rakeback deal. It can be very hard or even impossible to get a deal after you have signed up to a room.
Personally I would recommend Cake Poker or one of the other rooms on the Cake Poker network such as RedStar, Doyle"s Room and Power Poker. You can get up to 33% of your rakeback at Cake Poker plus a massive sign up bonus of 110% up to a maximum of $600. The players at Cake Poker are pretty bad and at the lower limits it"s like taking candy from a baby. They also have some really good promotions and reward systems in place. The best part about getting rakeback at Cake Poker is that it is paid directly into your Cake Poker account every week. This is a great feature as most rooms only pay out rakeback once every month.
You can sign up for rakeback at Cake Poker at Cake-Rakback33. They provide rakeback for Cake Poker and the Cake Poker network. They also have some great promotions with monthly prizes of over $60K.
