Just 20 years ago, televisions were huge and expensive, VHS players were the rage, and DVD players were unheard of. Ten years ago, TVs were beginning to become more streamlined DVDs had made their debut and prices were beginning to drop. While not always noted in the product specifications, one factor that should be taken into consideration when deciding on which model to buy is whether or not the display screen can be turned, adjusted or tilted. One thing about LCD screens is that, depending on the brand, the images on the screen can not be clearly viewed from an angle. The viewer needs to be looking at the screen pretty much straight on.

This may be an issue depending on where you are planning on using the TV. If you are placing the television on a kitchen countertop and want to watch it as you are moving around the kitchen, you will probably need to angle the screen so you can see it clearly. If it is being used for a bedroom and is mounted on a wall or set on a dresser and want to watch it from bed, you will most likely need to tilt it down. Buying a model that does not tilt will cause a problem.
