The Diode laser is next on the list and is one of the most useful. This type of laser can be used on darker skin colors as well. The Diode also boasts a longer wavelength. The Diode laser has been on the market since 2001. This particular laser has fewer side effects than other lasers and in doing so has better overall hair removal. The only downside to this laser is the fact that it is a new machine.

The Nd: Yag has the capacity to treat all six skin colors. On the flip side, however, there is not enough evidence to support that this will work in the long-term. Short term wise the hair does come back on average of six months. Also, people that used this reported that it was painful. So if your pain tolerance is low, this is not a recommended treatment for you.

Now let us take a look at the Ruby laser. This system does use a shorter wavelength. That being said, it gives a difference to the patient's skin such as darkening or lightening for everyone except those with white skin. So it is best for users if they only have white skin, otherwise their pigmentation can change drastically.

Last, but not least is the Alexandrite which also has the same effects as the Ruby laser. It is basically the same as the Ruby as far as short wavelengths and the side effects that occur in users with any skin tone other than white.
