Choosing From Several Strobe Beacons Options

There are many different types of strobe beacons which vary on many individual parameters

. What makes them similar though is the brightness of the warning light that they can flash. Strobes can operate easily as standalone lights providing solid lighting when required. At the same time, they can also be combined with each other in the form of mini bars or installed on bigger light bars at corners for side and off axis visibility. Significantly, their color can be varied a lot as well using domes in different shapes, sizes and colors, including blue, amber, red and green. Fresnel domes are UV stabilized and don't let dust accumulate on top, while also protecting the lighting elements or strobe tubes from moisture and excessive vibration of the vehicle.

On a broader scale, you will come across three types of strobes. These are magnetic mounted models, fixed mounting models and gyratory models which can rotate around an axis to offer 360 degree lighting and flashing whenever needed. Advanced strobe lights make use of optical technology referred to as free form, which results in enhancing the lighting emitted by these light heads or beacons. Moreover, the domes ensure that the lighting is spread across a greater angle to create a light house effect, with the beams travelling farther on a greater angle. Multi-colored domes can make the lighting even more attractive especially when the beacons can rotate across their axis. A significant advantage provided by the technology is off-axis visibility which is always more useful during emergencies.

Modern strobes can be single-bolt models; pole mounted din-fitted models or 3-bolt models. Some boast of a flexi mount as well. These strobe beacons or light heads usually have a rubber base or a base of polycarbonate which provides a sealed bottom to prevent moisture from seeping in. The sturdy base of these beacons also makes the lights vibration resistant, which is important when they are mounted on vehicle roofs. The models in spite of the improvisation are strictly conformant to all the regulations guiding emergency vehicle lighting. In some beacons, the unidirectional but focused nature of the strobe tube lighting is combined with a parabolic reflector or Fresnel lenses to achieve the desired effect. Latest generation LEDs are combined in some cases to create a bright lighting source.

Apart from exceptional off-axis lighting, modern strobes also benefit from colored filters and polycarbonate lenses that spread the lighting in the required direction. Beacons rotating at more than 100 RPM, using multi-colored domes can provide brilliant flashing that is hard to miss out on. Wide angle optics combined with solid state electronics for flashing and high intensity of LEDs makes the strobe lights extremely powerful and effective in an emergency. They also come with optional chrome plated flange kits in some cases. 60 Watt, 4 outlet power supplies are used for powering multiple beacons while ensuring equal intensity through an internal control module. These lights are efficient because they can offer bright and rapid multi-colored flashing and also a solid colored, steady warning signal when needed.
