Choosing Running Shoes For Your Foot Type
Once you have owned a pair of high quality running shoes
, and then switch to a lesser pair, you can really notice the difference. But that does not mean to say that buying running shoes is an easy process. If you do not take care when making a purchase, you can end up with a pair of shoes that cause more problems than they solve. In this article we will look at some of the key things to remember when walking into your local sports shop or browsing online.
What Kind of Feet Do You Have?
Most people go through life without actually knowing what kind of feet they have. But being armed with this knowledge means you are better placed to select running shoes that fit your feet. There are three main types of feet: the normal foot, the flat foot and the high-arched foot. A normal foot tends to land on the outside of the persons heel and then rolls inwards slightly to absorb the shock. The flat foot tends to land on the outside of the heel before rolling inwards. This can lead to a variety of overuse injuries. The high arched foot is not as good at absorbing shock as is the normal foot.
For each of these foot types there is a shoe to help. Most normal shoes, of course, will fit the normal foot; even the usual shaped foot, though, performs much better if the foot in question has good support. For the flat foot, firm midsoles are good, ideally with a high level of stability. The high arched foot is best addressed with running shoes that offer a good deal of cushioning and flexibility in order to encourage foot motion.
Once you understand what kind of foot you have, it is time to go into a shop, or go online to find your ideal shoes. Women love shoe shopping, if it is not too much of a cliche to say so, but males often duck in and duck out of shoe shops. Men need to learn to take their time when choosing shoes, as rushing can mean you end up runners that do not fit, ultimately giving you very sore feet.
Some people think that buying shoes online is not a good idea, but if you buy from a reputable shoe brand and you know your shoe size and foot type, then you should feel confident that you can buy shoes on the internet. You may also benefit from better prices if you buy shoes online instead of in the traditional high street shop. These are just a few tips for selecting the right running shoes for you.
