Choosing The Best Vax Mac Compact Vacuum Cleaner

Last year my old vacuum cleaner breathed its last

, leaving me with the expense of finding a replacement which would be better and not too expensive. I decided to research a little into the matter before making a selection and I found that I wanted a Vax Compact Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner. I already had a Vax Libretto Handheld Vacuum Cleaner and was quite happy with it.

When choosing which vacuum cleaner to purchase, the first decision which you need to make is as to whether you wish to buy a cylinder cleaner or an upright vacuum cleaner. Both have their good and bad points and both are popular, although the cylinder is slightly ahead in terms of popularity. Below are a few advantages and disadvantages of each type:

Cylinder vacuum cleaners

Pros:

Lighter and more compact than upright vacuum cleaners.

Better for tackling stairs, upholstery, under furniture and in hard-to-reach areas.

More reliable overall than upright vacs (according to the latest vacuum cleaner reliability survey).

Usually quieter.

Cons:

The hose section can be difficult to store tidily.

Generally not as good at picking up pet hair.

Can be more difficult to control and manoeuvre.

Upright vacuum cleaners

Pros:

Good at picking up pet hair.

Easier to store than cylinders if you have the space.

Quick at covering large areas of floor.

Cons:

Can be noisier.

Heavier than cylinders.

More difficult to use on stairs.

There is also the Vax Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner which a friend of mine recently bought and which she raved about. The science behind this goes along the lines of the fact that you use your vacuum to suck up dirt and dust particles which are then captured in the container. The air which is sucked up through the machine passes through a filter which catches the fine dust that would otherwise blow back into the room. When the filter is clean, your vacuum has maximum suction, but as it clogs with dust, air can't move as freely through the filter, resulting in less suction and therefore less dirt being sucked up.

The new generation of vacuum cleaners offer multi-cyclonic power. The air, dust and dirt that is sucked up into your machine is spun through a series of cyclones to separate dirt and dust from the air, before it reaches the filters. Dust collects in the containers not in the filters - so the suction is always as powerful as the first time you used your vacuum cleaner.

The Vax Infinity Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner is a lightweight vacuum, but in the end I decided to go for the Vax Mac Compact Vacuum from Top Notch Goods. This vacuum cleaner met all the requirements which I needed and I have always preferred a cylinder vacuum cleaner as opposed to an upright vacuum cleaner. I am very happy with the performance of this vacuum cleaner and I like having the peace of mind of knowing that my carpets are clean deep down, and not just on the surface.
