Garden windows have also become quite popular in recent years. These are very unique windows that are, once again, quite energy efficient because of the way they are constructed. A garden window actually contains three panes, one main piece of glass and two smaller ones set at 90 degree angles to the main pane. This creates a three sided window.

Garden windows are usually set back thus creating a box like shape. Plants are often placed inside this box like shape, hence the term garden window. Though the main pane usually cannot be opened, the side panes open outward, thus letting in cool air when needed. They also lock when closed for added security.
