Choosing The Right Variety Of Tomatoes To Grow During The Winter Season

Anyone can grow tomatoes and anyone can actually grow them at any time and at any place

. If you can't help but have these tomatoes you really don't have to worry. Because growing tomatoes is very possible even during the winter season. But one should remember that not all types grow well during the winter. There are those that are definitely better than the others.

If you have a greenhouse, indeterminate types would be your best choice for growing. These are vined plants and they can grow huge. But these varieties can also withstand the cold temperature. However, if you are growing tomatoes inside your homes, it would be best to use the smaller types to save more space inside your home. Smaller types are better in containers and can be easily carried and positioned by your window or your patio for sunlight exposure.

You can also ask your local garden centers for available seedlings that can grow well even during the winter. However, here are my suggested varieties that you can choose from. One tomato type is the Alexsia F1. This plant is a beef-type tomato hybrid that matures very early and produces fruits that are bright red. This tomato hybrid is resistant to many infections and can be grown in any condition. This means that they grow well even in the cold months. Another type is the Enygma F1. The Enygma F1 is another indeterminate tomato with a mid-early maturity. This plant has very short internodes and can grow well indoors. It also produces fruits in whatever condition. This means, you can have them grown in whatever season. The fruits that you would yield are oblate in shape, and intense red when fully ripen. This like the first variety is also resistant to most diseases. Some of these are Fusarium Wilt, Verticillium Wilt, Tomato Mosaic Virus and many others. Marfa F1 can also be another type you could choose to plant. it produces good fruits that would surely please you. Just like the first two varieties I have presented, this indeterminate tomato can also survive the winter season.

Other varieties that can be planted indoors specially during the winter are Pixie, Patio, Toy Boy, Small Fry or Tiny Tim. These varieties are indeterminate types that are smaller than the others and can be grown in containers. However, these tomatoes still need to be staked especially when they start bearing fruits.

Indoor planting especially during the winter is very possible to do. You don't have to worry about your favorite fruit not sold in the local markets since you can actually grow and have a taste of it straight from your own place. You can even sell your own for additional income. It may begin just as a hobby but may soon end as a little business in your home. And if you need tomatoes for whatever cuisine you are preparing, you will no longer end up crazy hunting for these fruits in your locality. You can have it anytime you want.
