Christopher Reeve is the very first actor who performed part of the Superman and made this character the most favored superhero around the globe. Until nowadays. Christopher Reeve is a good example of will, strength, kindness and optimism. His image still gives believe in future to people with a spinal-cord problem. His name is the saying for people believing science will discover the way to heal the harmed nerves and also paralyzed people will have an opportunity to be cured. Christopher Reeve gave his name to the American Paralysis Association which is known today as the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
The aims of the organization:
1.This foundation is directed to help with grants non-profit associations which promote the improvement of life for people with a spin cords injury, mobility impairment and paralysis.
2. It funds the projects of researches and neuroscientists which have the aim to obtain the innovational methods to heal the injured nerve system.
3.Another project is the Reeve Foundation Quality of Life Grants Program directed to finance non-profit organizations which aims are to offer services for those with paralysis. There are some categories of the program.
4. The first category is called Actively Achieving. It has its goal to involve paralyzed people in sport activities. The program finances sport associations which arrange sport events for paralyzed individuals and that give facilities to help them live a normal life: ride a bike, to play with friend, to train for a work.
5. Bridging Barriers projects are directed at involving people with disabilities in social life. It funds projects that manage voice-activated technology, give home modifying projects and transportation service for wheel-chaired people. 6. Caring and Coping project takes care about the disable people as well as their families. The areas of the foundation are healthcare professional and educational conferences.
