City Airport Lego is one of the HOT buys this Christmas. Lego is a timeless favourite amongst children all over the world, and year in year out it and this year is no different, as Lego retains it's position as one of the most popular toys in the world.

If sales of City Airport Lego are anything to go by, it looks like we could see a repeat of what happened last year. So many desperate parents ended up buying Lego at prices way above the recommended retail price when the popular sets like this one sold out. Some sellers on EBay and similar sites made a lot of money selling the Lego City Police Station at two or three times the recommended price. Parents paid over the odds as they couldn't face explaining that Santa had run out. If your child wants the Airport set this year don't risk falling into the same trap. Get in early and avoid paying inflated prices.

Lego is a fantastic toy for any child and it is easy to see why it remains on the best sellers list year after year. My kids have had lego since they were toddlers, and at ages 13 and 15, they still like to get the Lego box out for a bit of a building session now and then. Electronic toys are great but often they do not inspire the same level of creativity as the Lego sets. Children can spend hours making up the actual set i.e. in this case City Airport, and also playing with the pieces for years afterwards and coming up with their own inventions. Parents report kids watching their favorite TV programs and then using random pieces of Lego to build something they saw on TV.

Lego is also a great educational toy. It stimulates creativity and imagination and it also helps develop the fine motor skills necessary for children to be able to write properly at school as well as completing other day to day tasks. Although Lego can be more expensive than other similar building sets, the key to its success is that it lasts and can be passed down from one generation to the other. It was introduced in 1932 so you probably remember playing with it in some form yourself as a kid. My mother in law has a box of Lego that my husband played with 40 years ago, and it connects with modern Lego seamlessly.

The City Airport Lego is one of the larger Lego kits. It includes a jet plane, flight terminal with revolving doors, a baggage cart, control tower, some figures including the crew, a passenger and a service man. As with all Lego sets you can buy extra figures for it, or in this case a passenger plane and some runway. In fact you could build an entire Lego City if you wanted to.

Lego has a reputation for detail but this set really does take it to a new level. Many of the items you would expect to see in a real airport turn up in this set. There is a Soda machine, coffee mugs, security scanning area, computer behind the check in desk and so much more. The only real downside to this set is that there are not many figures included. You may want to buy some additional mini figures because given the size of this set five really isn't sufficient.

In summary, Lego makes a favourite Christmas Gift once again, and is guaranteed to delight the young construction worker in your family.
