Class Action Lawsuit Against South Park in 200th Episode
The writers and creators of the comedy show South Park display absolutely no regret for all the celebs they have ridiculed over the years
. This season, however, it has been announced that Tom Cruise, Kanye West, and Oprah Winfrey will have their revenge on Southpark in an approaching milestone episode!
In the episode, the town of Southpark is subjected to a class action lawsuit by a considerable list of celebreties lampooned during the animations 14-year history. It will be the satirical cartoon's 200th episode, not surprisingly titled 200.
It is highly unlikely that these celebrities would really try to sue the creators of South Park. That being said, with all the people they have insulted it is hard to imagine any famous people who wouldn't mind suing South Park for every penny.
However, there are two things which provide significant obstacles to any person considering it. The first admendment of the U.S. constitution is the primary barrier. Second, in the beginning of every episode of South Park they show a disclaimer (pictured on the right).
A particulary famous episode titled Trapped in the Closet included a memorable plot line in which Tom Cruise refused to come out of a closet and the tenets of Scientology were exposed. In later episode, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas were controversially depicted raping the character Indiana Jones - a reference to fans' disappointment with the fourth film in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Other celebs featured in 200 will include Phil Collins, Hillary Clinton, baseball player Barry Bonds and Oscar winner Russell Crowe, who was memorably, depicted travelling the world picking multiple fights.
Some commentators dislike South Park because they see the humour of the show as being simple and crude . The creators of the show don't single out race, religion or country because they will ridicule any race, religion or country, including themselves. In addition, each episode typically ends with the moral center ground being explained. As an American show that comprehends and frequently practices satire, South Park should be embraced by the UK, the experts of satire!
