Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs) are among the most effective and the most commonly
used primary containment devices in laboratories working with infectious agents. Acmas technocracy BSC Class III provides operator and product protection for work with up to category 4 pathogens. With two high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters at the exhaust point, a class III biological safety cabinet protects the user and the environment from the specimen under study. Cabinet is a totally enclosed ventilated cabinet of gas-tight construction. Operations within the Class III cabinet are conducted through attached rubber gloves. When in use, the Class III cabinet is maintained through negative air pressure of at least 0.5 inches water gauge. Supply air is drawn into the cabinet through HEPA filters. The cabinet exhaust air is filtered by two HEPA filters, installed in series, before discharge outside of the facility. The exhaust fan for the Class III cabinet is generally separate from the exhaust fans of the facility's ventilation system. It provides the highest level of
protection to the operator and the environment. Class III biological safety cabinets are gas-tight and designed for use with high risk microbiological agents and potent compounds.

Several Class III cabinets can be joined together in a custom-built manner to provide a larger work area. A class III cabinet in basic laboratory should not be used to handle high risk samples.
